Professional Assault Crisis Training (Pro-ACT): Crisis Communication Day 1 & 2

Description

The training is derived from an evidence-based model called Pro-ACT (Professional Assault Crisis Training), a principle-based safety enhancement program, designed to teach professionals to prevent or respond to potential client assaults in a successful way. This training is based on a set of principles that focus on maintaining client dignity and keeping people safe by understanding the importance of: professional preparation, motives for assault and the applicable methods, developing and strengthening the skills to identify early alternatives and prevent/reduce dangerous and potentially assaultive behavior, providing guidance in recovery, and achieving a consistent and operative client safety plan.

Foster youth are frequently exposed to traumatic experiences, such as abuse, neglect, loss, or instability. As a result, they may struggle with managing their emotions and behaviors in response to stress, leading to outbursts, aggression, or withdrawal. Pro-ACT Crisis Communication provides techniques for professionals (caregivers, social workers, therapists, teachers, etc.) to effectively communicate with foster youth during times of emotional distress.
