Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR): Suicide Prevention
Description
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, Refer – A suicide prevention training that includes three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. This training equips child welfare professionals with essential skills to identify and respond to suicidal ideation among system-involved youth and their families. This training is directly applicable to professionals working with children and youth who are at risk of or currently in foster care.
Just as CPR can prevent death from heart attack, QPR can prevent suicide by preparing professionals to recognize warning signs, engage at-risk individuals, and connect them to appropriate mental health services. These skills are critical in ensuring the safety, permanency, and well-being of youth in the child welfare system.
