Trauma Effects on Students in the Classroom

This training is meant for everyone teaching and supporting system involved youth who have experienced trauma. It will cover what trauma is, the effects of trauma on youth as a student, how to support them in the classroom setting (i.e. traditional, virtual and home school classrooms), how to provide a successful learning environment for the students, and how to best care for yourself and the student(s) while in a learning environment. This training explores how trauma impacts student behavior, learning, and social engagement in the classroom, with an emphasis on the unique experiences of foster youth. Educators, support staff, and professionals will gain insight into the neurological and emotional effects of trauma and how it can manifest in school settings.
