Compassion Fatigue and Vicarious Trauma (Public)

Description

This training explores the importance of self-care as a protective practice for professionals working in mental and behavioral health services. Participants will learn how compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma can develop through repeated exposure to others’ trauma, crisis, and emotional distress. The training emphasizes recognizing early warning signs, understanding the impact on personal well-being and professional effectiveness, and developing practical strategies for emotional regulation, healthy boundaries, reflection, rest, and support. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how intentional self-care supports resilience, ethical practice, and long-term sustainability in helping professions.
