Insight into Understanding Behavior-Virtual
Description
This interactive, lecture-style training explores behavior as a form of communication, particularly for children and youth who have experienced trauma, loss, or disrupted attachment — Common among those involved in the child welfare system. Special focus is placed on emotional regulation and self-regulation. Core developmental skills often delayed or impaired in system-involved youth due to adverse childhood experiences (ACE's), including abuse, neglect, or placement disruptions.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how dis-regulation manifests in behaviors and how to interpret these behaviors through a trauma-informed lens. The training equips resource parents, caregivers, and educators with strategies to foster safe, supportive environments that help children develop regulatory capacities and achieve long-term emotional and behavioral stability, which is critical for achieving permanency and well-being outcomes.
