Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Children-Virtual
Description
This training provides participants with a foundational understanding of the most common types of childhood disabilities that are often present among system-involved youth. Trainees will learn to recognize signs and symptoms associated with conditions such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down syndrome, and others. The training will explore typical behaviors exhibited by children with these disabilities and equip participants with strategies to provide effective, compassionate, and informed care. Emphasis will also be placed on identifying resources and services available to support both the child and their family or caregivers.
Designed for professionals and caregivers working with foster youth, this session will empower participants to improve outcomes by recognizing disability-related needs early, responding appropriately, and facilitating access to supportive services.
