Description
Introduction to Harm Reduction gives an overview of the concept of harm reduction as it relates to recreational substance use and substance use disorder in system-involved youth. Harm reduction is a set of practical strategies and ideas aimed at reducing negative consequences associated with drug use. The training outlines strategies and implementation tactics, and addresses myths and misconceptions about those struggling with addiction, to provide the most effective care/treatment of a foster youth living with substance use disorder (SUD).
This training will equip caregivers and direct service providers with skills to engage with at risk youth who use drugs and provide them with harm reduction strategies to improve their physical, mental, and social wellbeing; As well as offer low barrier options for accessing health care services, including substance use and mental health disorder treatment.
