Layperson Naloxone Administration contains a general overview of the chronic brain disease of addiction/substance use disorder, specific information addressing opioid use and abuse, information about the science behind the drug Naloxone, and how to administer various forms of the lifesaving drug that participants will use to better serve youth and families. This course has been developed by Overdose Lifeline, Inc.,anon-profit dedicated to helping individuals, families, and communities affected by the disease of addiction/substance use disorder through advocacy, education, harm reduction, prevention, resources, and support.

The PowerPoint contentprovided duringthis training is supported by videos that detail how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose, the proper administration of Naloxone and handouts with helpful guides to provide easy instructions to the public for administering Naloxone. Due to the opioid crisis in Northern California, it is essential direct providers learn the importance of administering Naloxone at care facilities, where our most vulnerable populations receive service. Participants will be equipped to respond in the event a child or adult in their care experiences an overdose.
